Join Me in the Fight Against Pancreatic Cancer

On Sunday, July 28th, I am taking on the challenge of cycling up Cypress Mountain to raise awareness and funds for pancreatic cancer research and care at BC Cancer.

This cause is deeply personal to me. This year, I lost several friends and family members to cancer, including pancreatic cancer. It is one of the most lethal forms of cancer, with a devastatingly poor prognosis. Most patients tragically pass away within months of their diagnosis, as early detection is nearly impossible.

However, there is hope. BC Cancer is at the forefront of groundbreaking research and provides exceptional care for cancer patients. Their efforts are making a significant impact, but they can't do it alone. We need to come together to support their crucial work.

In 2023 alone, over 800 British Columbians will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Shockingly, only 10 percent of those diagnosed will survive for five years. Pancreatic cancer is notoriously difficult to detect early and is often resistant to treatment. Despite being the tenth most common cancer in Canada, it is the fourth leading cause of cancer death. If we don't find more effective treatments, pancreatic cancer is projected to become the second leading cause of cancer death in Canada by 2030.

We must act now.

Since its inception in 2008, the Cypress Challenge has raised over $4 million, thanks to the incredible generosity of community members like you. Together, we can drive innovations in research and improve care for everyone facing this deadly disease.
