This past year, I lost a dear friend to cancer. I met Rob Milne cycling in Stanley Park 17 years ago. It turned out we had been living in the same building but our paths had not crossed till then. At the time, he was the age that I am now. We became fast friends, cycling together, even serving on our condo strata council together (a thankless job if there ever was one!). We talked about business, the stock market, cycling and everything in between.

Rob was a brilliant, successful entrepreneur who excelled at sports and had a heart of gold. But of all his achievements in life (and there were many), his proudest achievement was his family. Rob was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. When Myrtle, his first grandchild was born, she became his number one priority and our bike rides were often rescheduled to accommodate his cherished visits with her. Rob excelled at everything and that included being a doting grandfather x 3.

On Sunday July 28th, I'm participating in the Cypress Challenge in honor of Rob. He was a top fundraiser and donor to this event in support of BC Cancer. Rob always gave generously to this and other worthy causes. He and Diane believed in sharing the fruits of their labour and helping others less fortunate. As a young person, Rob struggled with drug addiction and overcame it to start a successful business, but he never forgot his past and this made him compassionate to the struggle of others. Rob was my hero and he will be missed.

Please join me in supporting a cause that was near and dear to him by making a donation to the BC Cancer Foundation.

Thank you,

Andrew
