Yes I am another year older and taking on yet another challenge!

Team Way Hey Hey rides for pancreatic cancer research!

On Sunday, July 27th, I am cycling in the Capilano Volkswagen Cypress Challenge presented by GlotmanSimpson Cycling, raising awareness and funds for pancreatic cancer research and care at the BC Cancer Agency!

This year, more than 800 British Columbians will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Its projected that only 10 per cent (or 80 of those people diagnosed) will live five years.

if you have known anyone affected by pancreatic cancer, you will know that it is very difficult to detect at an early stage and is often resistant to treatment. Although it is the tenth most common cancer in Canada, it is the fourth leading cause of cancer deaths.
Celebrities that have died of this aggressive cancer include Steve Jobs, Patrick Swayze, Alex Trebek, Aretha Franklin, Luciano Pavarotti, Michael Landon, Sally Ride and Ruth Ginsberg.

Unless more effective treatment strategies are found, pancreatic cancer in Canada is projected to become the second leading cause of cancer death by 2030.

We need to act now and that's why even though I have done a few fundraisers already this season for other causes, I am participating in this one!

It definitely will be a challenge to do this mountain climbing cycling event!

Since 2008, Cypress Challenge has raised over $5.2 million and its thanks to the generosity of community members like you. Together, we can drive innovations in research and enhance care to benefit each person facing this disease.

With your help, the BC Cancer Foundation can continue its vital work to break down and to try to find a cure for this deadly disease.

Please consider making a donation if you can, no amount is too small!

It all helps to make a difference!

Thanks so much,

Angela

And rest assured next Monday I am donating blood so my challenges will be definitely over for a little bit!:)
