On Sunday, July 27th, Im riding in the Cypress Challenge to raise funds for pancreatic cancer research at BC Cancer. This disease is one of the deadliest cancers, with a 5-year survival rate of just 10%, and its projected to become the second leading cause of cancer death in Canada by 2030.
But I'm not stopping at the 12km Cypress hill climb. Our team, Velogrit Lontreau, is taking it even further!
We will high five everyone at the top and leave the party behind to continue on to climb Grouse Mountain and Mount Seymour before finishing in Port Moody.
When the day is done, we will have riding 120km and over 2,800 metres of climbing in one day. To put it into perspective, this elevation is the equivalent of riding to the peak of Mount Olympus in Greece.
Why? Because this cause matters. Since 2008, the Cypress Challenge has raised over $5.2 million thanks to community support. With your help, BC Cancer can keep advancing research and care for those facing this devastating disease.
